Ever Dream of Owning a Home?
Habitat can help make that dream possible. How does it work? Habitat homes are sold at no profit with a 0% interest loan. Average monthly payments range between $450-$650 per month, including taxes and insurance. Our homeowner partners must be willing to work to build their home – contributing between 300 and 500 hours of “sweat equity” by swinging hammer on the job site, recruiting volunteers and other administrative tasks. Along the way, homeowners learn about construction and maintenance of their homes, take a budgeting and financial fitness course, and build lasting friendships with volunteers from the community.
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR APPLICANTS:
Applications for our 2014 Build season are open from MAY 1st 2013 until JUNE 30th 2013. Only those applications submitted during this period will be considered for participation in our 2014 build season. At this time, 4 homes are scheduled for construction in our River Falls, WI Eco Village site during 2014.
Please note that this is not a "first come, first served" application process; all applications will be evaluated against the below criteria, and a rigorous review and interview process will accompany every eligible application.

Potential homeowners should meet these 4 criteria:
1. Potential Homeowners must Live or Work in Pierce or St. Croix County for the last six months
2. Ability to pay house payment of around $600/month (includes principal, taxes and insurance)
3. Demonstrate a willingness to partner with Habitat – contributing "sweat equity" volunteer hours to the project
4. Demonstrate a need for adequate housing (current housing is unsafe or unsuitable, with accessibility, mold or mechanical issues; crowded, temporary or shared with other families, etc).
We recognize that life-changing circumstances come along with illness or disability, a death in the family or loss of a job, domestic violence or overwhelming expenses. Everybody’s circumstances are different, but so far in 15 years, Habitat has helped nearly 50 families to gain a home where they can build their lives and build hope.
