Our Committed Board Members

St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity could not function without the gift of time and energy and work from our wonderful Board members. Meeting several hours a month and chairing several committees each, our Board members are tireless in their gift of time and talent. Our families are deeply thankful for them. Robert Baczynski, WI DNR
Robert Baczynski started with Habitat in 2007. He has been involved with annual mission trips since 1996. He lives in New Richmond with his family after having moved to the area from New Hampshire. He is employed by the Wisconsin DNR in the Water Division and works in Baldwin.
Kelly Cain, Director for the St. Croix Institute for Sustainable Community Development at UW-River Falls
Joined the board in 2008. Has served on numerous local and governmental boards, and sees SCVHFH as the epitome of leveling the playing field for making energy efficient and healthy homes affordable to those less able to afford them. "The spirit and effort of SCVHFH is synonymous with sustainable community development, and there is no more important work and service than this, in my opinion. It is where the rubber meets the road.""
Jim Hauschild, Partner in a Fabricating Company
Has been a board member for 4 years, and a past president of the affiliate. I serve on the fund development and construction committees. My hope is that we can make a difference in the lives of the families that we serve, and give them hope.
Matt Hieb, VP of Engineering Firm
Matt Hieb joined the board in 2008. Matt lives in River Falls with his wife and two children. "I joined the board to help give back to the local community." Matt is Vice President of a local engineering and surveying firm located in Hudson, Auth Consulting and Associates and is a civil/environmental engineer.
Robert Jeffrey, Retired from Kraft Foods
Robert Jeffrey joined the board in 2007. He is retired from Kraft Foods in the Milwaukee area and has done extensive home remodeling. They moved to River Falls 3 years ago. "One of the goals for our life in retirement is to make a meaningful, relevant contribution through volunteer work and Habitat for Humanity seems to provide an opportunity to fill that desire".
Mark Johnson, University Disability-Services Coordinator and Counselor
He and his wife lived in "rudimentary" housing, saving for years to build. Mark says, "we realized how much it benefited our family to have a home." He believes getting involved with Habitat is a great way to give back to the community.
Treasurer - Stuart Krueger, Law-Firm Partner
Had been doing public service work for SCVHFH and got onto the Habitat board three years ago. He now serves as treasurer and on SCVHFH’s Mortgage Compliance Committee and says he got involved because he thinks everybody ought to do some kind of public service work. "Stu" said, "it’s gratifying to see Habitat’s work make a difference in someone’s life; it means and does more than sending a check".
John Levi, Financial Consultant
Has been volunteering nine years and chairs the Church Relations Committee. John feels volunteering is very rewarding and loves giving back to the community. He says, "the best thing about serving is getting to meet families and working side-by-side with them on their new home."
Secretary - David Babcock, COO at Foster Associates
I have a degree in Business Administration with MIS Minor. Corporate Career: Worked for United HealthCare, Insty Prints, LOGIS and UCare Minnesota as part of the IT team (Dilberts). Currently, I am the COO for Foster Associates. We provide rental homes for students in River Falls. I married into the Foster clan, my wife’s name is Judie. Judie is the direct descendant of Judge Joel Foster. Judge Foster helped to found River Falls. The Fosters have a long history of community service and it is my great privilege to consider myself a “Foster Child.”
Jay Livermore, Retired Engineer
Jumped into Habitat work about five years ago and serves on both the Family Support and Church Relations Committees. He says, "the job(s) allow me a small way to return the health and happiness that have blessed my family." Jay thinks seeing the joy on a new homeowner’s face makes the work worthwhile.
President - Carol Merriman, Retired from Andersen Corporation
Carol Merriman retired from Andersen Corporation after 29 years. She spends a lot of her time now volunteering for her church and other groups. Many years ago "I signed up to work on a Habitat house through work…. and I was hooked! I took every opportunity Andersen allowed to help on weekend builds and more recently Womens Builds and blitz builds with Twin City Habitat….Volunteering, working to help others in need, is the main reason I retired (I didn’t have time for work!)” She has been a board member since 2007".
Amy Muzzy, Executive Director SCV Habitat
While not a member of the Board, Amy Muzzy, as Executive Director for SCV Habitat, participates in all board meetings. Amy was hired as the Executive Director of SCVHFH in May 2005. She has over 20 years of experience working for government and non-profit agencies including the University of Wisconsin - River Falls, the Kinnickinnic River Land Trust, the Minnesota Zoo and the Wisconsin Conservation Corps.
Francis Ogden, Retired Civil Engineer/Land Surveyor and Business Owner
Has been with Habitat for twelve years and serves on several committees: Including: Site Selection and Construction. He says, "I just want to do it" and enjoys working with friends in the organization to make things happen.
Vice President - Roger Pavlis, Retired Engineer
Began with Habitat two years ago and serves as vice president and on the Construction Committee. He says, "the organization is just good and it provides affordable housing for people who wouldn’t otherwise have a house." He likes seeing the homeowners’ joy when they get a home as well as working with them and the volunteers.
Paul Ramberg, Former Dairy Farmer
Helped establish the St. Croix Valley Chapter twelve years ago, now serving on the Construction Committee. Paul says, "I volunteer to challenge myself and help others; and, it keeps my building skills sharp."
Peter Stacy, College Professor and Former Prison Superintendent
Joined Habitat’s board three years ago. He says, "the work is consistent with my socialwork profession, which removes barriers that may interfere with people fully participating in our democratic society." He enjoys providing individuals with a greater sense of belonging and more opportunities to feel valued.
Gloria Wahrenbrock, Local Business Owner
Started with Habitat eleven years ago. She chairs the Site Selection Committee. Gloria loves working with people, especially children and says, "I got involved because I believe it’s important to use our abilities, talents and gifts to help others and getting involved locally has the greatest impact."
New - Rollie Johnson, Retired Manufacturing/Quality Engineer Anderson
“I’m a retired Manufacturing/Quality Engineer from Andersen Corp. after 37 years. I have a passion for carpentry and working with wood so Habitat was a perfect fit back in the late ‘90’s when I first started on homes with Twin Cities Habitat through work. I have been involved with many blitz builds from Bayport to Phoenix and it gives me great satisfaction to help other families the way Habitat does. Being on the Board will give me another way to contribute to help families across the area.”
New - Larry Peterson, Retired 3M
Is retired from 3M, with nearly 40 years of experience in manufacturing quality control. He spent the last 15 years doing tech service work in Latin America. “ I feel that Habitat is one of the best charitable organizations around. I worked on several houses before getting involved with the board. I enjoy the challenge and the people.”
New - Dave Meier, Retired Anderson Corporation
Retired from Andersen Corp. in 2005 after 30 years of service. Dave worked on Habitat projects while still employed and started volunteering locally after he retired. He became a Habitat board member in 2009. Working to provide for basic human needs is a driving force. He also serves as treasurer and board member for the River Falls Community Food Pantry.
New - Peter Kilde, Executive Director for West CAP
Peter has been executive director of West Central Wisconsin Community Action Agency, Inc, (West CAP), since 1995. West CAP operates numerous anti-poverty programs in a seven county service area, including a large low-income weatherization program and the nationally recognized JumpStart facilitated car purchase program. He currently represents the upper Midwest on the national Community Action Partnership Board of Directors and serves on their regional Workforce Development Board. Mr. Kilde is frequently called upon to give presentations around the country on low-income transportation, housing and energy issues.
